Cybersecurity tabletop exercises, typically composed of stakeholders discussing their response to cybersecurity incidents in a controlled discussion-based setting, are a fundamental pillar of preparing for a cybersecurity incident.
This preparation enables a variety of stakeholders to gather, ranging from information technology to cross-functional roles (e.g. Human Resources, Legal, Audit, etc.) and convey functional interests in advance of a cybersecurity incident. The result is an organization that is more familiar with specific roles and responsibilities as well as the ability to shore up any deficiencies that emerged during the tabletop exercise. In this presentation, we’ll discuss how any organization can create and facilitate a tabletop exercise and key considerations in the development process.

Robert Lelewski has spent twenty years in the fields of information technology, cyber security, and incident response. Robert’s cybersecurity career was initiated with several years as a computer forensic and incident response consultant responding to high-profile incident across the globe. Robert then joined Dell Secureworks as the Director of Proactive Services and oversaw the team’s global proactive practice, helping organizations prepare for a cybersecurity incident. Over his career, Robert has conducted hundreds of tabletop exercises, developed hundreds of incident response plans, and has been a consultant to organizations ranging from small regional banks to Fortune 50 companies across the globe.
